🌸 Creativity is Blooming This March at The Lovely Cow Shed 🐄🌿

March has arrived at Forty Acre Farm and with it comes longer days, fresh inspiration and plenty of reasons to gather together. As spring begins to unfold, The Lovely Cow Shed is full of creative workshops, delicious seasonal food and those cosy moments of connection that make this place so special. This month we’re leaning into renewal — creativity around the table, laughter during workshops, and beautiful food shared with friends. We can’t wait to welcome you.

✨ Let Your Creativity Bloom

As the days grow lighter, our workshops invite you to slow down, switch off and enjoy the simple joy of making something with your own hands. Our upcoming Dried Flower Wreath Making Workshop is a relaxed and creative afternoon where guests will craft a beautiful wreath to take home, with step-by-step guidance throughout the session. The workshop includes a delicious afternoon tea with tea and coffee — and guests are welcome to bring a bottle along too. Looking ahead, our Botanical Casting Workshop in April is already creating excitement. This nature-inspired workshop allows you to create your own unique botanical artwork using foliage and natural textures, all while enjoying a charcuterie board and a relaxed, creative atmosphere. No experience is ever needed — just bring your curiosity and enjoy a few peaceful hours of creativity (with plenty of tea and cake, of course 🍰).

🌿 Mother’s Day Rustic Afternoon Tea

Our Mother’s Day Rustic Afternoon Tea is nearly here — a generous country-style feast designed to treat Mum this Mother’s Day. Expect freshly made finger sandwiches including honey roast ham, free-range egg mayonnaise, mature cheese and classic prawn cocktail. Alongside homemade sausage rolls and sticky glazed chipolatas, there are plenty of sweet treats too — homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, chocolate éclairs, macarons, shortbread, meringue kisses and indulgent brownies topped with white chocolate cheesecake. £22.50 per person — collection only on Sunday 15th March. We also have Children’s Rustic Tea Boxes available — a lovely little feast with sandwiches, sausage roll, crisps, fruit and a charming cake pop for £8.50.

🍽️ Outside Catering – Reyt Good Fodder

Whether you’re planning a wedding, birthday, celebration of life, baby shower or corporate gathering, our outside catering continues to focus on generous portions, quality local ingredients and food made properly — with no hidden extras. 🎶 Special Events Coming Soon

We’re also looking forward to a fantastic evening at The Lovely Cow Shed with our upcoming Swing & Steak Night on 25th April. Guests will enjoy a delicious steak dinner prepared by Chef Andy Wareing of Wild Garlic Dining, accompanied by live swing-style entertainment from Philip Halliwell — the perfect evening out for friends, couples and celebrations.

📚 Book Clubs & Community

Lovely Readers Book Club

Last month we travelled far back in time with The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel. The prehistoric setting sparked plenty of conversation around the table — from Ayla’s resilience to the fascinating social structures of early human life. As always, the evening included our traditional comfort food break of cheese and onion pie followed by apple crumble and custard. Next up for the group is Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce — another completely new adventure for us to explore together.

The Granary Book Club

The Granary Book Club is looking ahead to a wonderful line-up of upcoming reads. March brings The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows — a charming story told through letters about a quirky book club formed during the German occupation of Guernsey during World War II. In April we’ll be reading The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods, a magical tale of secrets, discovery and a hidden bookshop. May brings the powerful modern classic The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. As always, it’s not just about the books — it’s about sharing stories, conversation and plenty of good food along the way.

🌱 Early Spring Foraging Feature

March marks the beginning of wild garlic season in the UK, usually running from March through to May. One of our favourite ways to enjoy it is in a warming early-spring dip. Warm Wild Garlic & Butter Bean Dip Simply warm butter beans in a pan, stir through freshly chopped wild garlic leaves until softened, then blend with tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and a splash of warm water until silky smooth. Serve warm with toasted sourdough, flatbreads or roasted vegetables. Foraging tip: Always check wild garlic leaves carefully — they should smell strongly of garlic when crushed.
Thank you for being part of The Lovely Cow Shed story — whether you’re joining a workshop, booking catering, staying in our Shepherd’s Huts or simply following along. Spring is bringing lots of exciting ideas and gatherings our way, and we can’t wait to share them with you. With love, Annie x The Lovely Cow Shed Team
