April has arrived at Forty Acre Farm and with it comes longer, brighter days and plenty of reasons to come together. As spring settles in, The Lovely Cow Shed is full of creativity, beautiful food and those special moments of connection that make this place so unique.
This month we’re celebrating everything we love most — creativity around the table, relaxed gatherings, and food made to be shared. We can’t wait to welcome you.
🍽️ Outside Catering – Your Events Made Beautiful
Spring is the perfect time to gather, celebrate and make memories — and our outside catering is designed to do just that.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, birthday, baby shower, corporate event or a more intimate gathering, we focus on generous, comforting food made with care. Think vibrant seasonal dishes, relaxed sharing feasts, beautiful canapés and of course something sweet to finish (cake is always non-negotiable 🍰).
We’re now taking bookings for 2026, so if you have something special in mind, we’d love to help you create it.

Our workshops are designed to be relaxed, welcoming and inspiring — whether you’re coming alone or with friends. It’s never just about what you make, but the laughter, conversation and connection shared around the table.

Create your own beautiful botanical artwork using natural textures and foliage, with step-by-step guidance throughout.

Learn the art of knotting and create your own stylish and practical string bag in a colour of your choice.

No experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and enjoy a few peaceful hours of creativity.
🎶 Special Event – Swing & Steak Night
Join us for a fantastic evening of great food and live entertainment.
Enjoy a delicious steak dinner prepared by Chef Andy Wareing of Wild Garlic Dining, alongside live swing-style music from Philip Halliwell — the perfect night out for couples, friends or celebrations.

🌱 Seasonal Feature – Wild Garlic
April is one of the best times to head out for a spot of foraging, and wild garlic is in abundance across woodland areas.
It’s perfect for:
• Pesto
• Butter
• Scones
• Stirring into mashed potatoes
Recipe Idea – Wild Garlic Butter
Simply mix finely chopped wild garlic leaves with softened butter, a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice. Roll, chill and slice to serve with warm bread or vegetables — simple, seasonal and delicious.

Our book clubs continue to be a lovely part of each month, bringing people together over good conversation (and plenty of tea and cake!).

🏡 Stay With Us – Hidden Fell Escapes
Our Shepherd’s Huts are now open for bookings from 1st May, offering the perfect countryside escape.
